How I Was Called To The Mission Field
Hey guys!! Well I will tell ya’ll a little about how I was called to the mission field π So here it goes!! When i was about 8 years old I became a Christian. I grew up in a Christian home luckily and was taught to serve and glorify God in all my abilities and gifts. I have always led bible studies for the girls at my church and have really bonded with them and learned things about others. I love to meet & learn about different people. Every summer my youth group or college age group from my church would go to M-fuge/Centrifuge and I would always take the opportunity for missions. I enjoyed to see the smiles and hope that God used us to place on all the individuals we came in contact with that week! I never wanted to leave!! I then discovered that my gift was to encourage the hopeless and my specialty is dealing with elders. So, then I began a nursing home ministry which i absolutely love.
Last year at Disciple Now (a retreat at my church with many other churches), I began to see that God had bigger and better plans for me as a youth minister. I loved to encourage, travel, and help people. I was scared and didn’t know if this was really what God wanted me to do and so I began to pray. Prayer is always the best way to make decisions. You don’t make them; God should. Then after months of prayer I realized that with school and other activities, God led my heart elsewhere…for now anyway. I began to do research on different nursing homes & children’s homes where I could work at maybe during the summer and asked God to send me some sign or help of guidance. At wednesday night worship one night, My friend Sarah Charrier that I hadn’t seen in a while came to our church. We began to catch up and she told me all about how awesome her mission trip to swaziland, africa was and how much it changed her life and others. She too went with Adventures In Missions. She gave me the website and I began to pray.
A few weeks later I decided that I should try out one of these mission trips because I know that missions is my calling. So i decided to take the summer off of school and use my time to reach out to the outside world besides America! Two of my other friends from church began talking about these trips also and how much Ireland seemed like a beautiful place to go visit. For ya’ll that don’t know me well yet; Europe has my heart. I love paris. Europe has such great beauty and if you ever heard that European people are snobby. You have been lied too. They are humans just as we are, and need to hear the truth just as much as the next best person. So I saw the different categories and saw that Ireland was one of the locations and immediately God lead me to believe that I should go and help out the country I love.
I absolutely love missions and I am looking forward to getting to know the team better π I know that God has a great plan for each and every one of us. All of our talents and abilities will form to create a beautiful team to better God’s kingdom!
I will keep praying for us as we prepare!!-
In Him,
Laura B π
REMEMBER:
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. -Philippians 1:20-21 π
